A BALLINGRY man was sent to detention after committing a series of offences including striking a friend over the head with a bottle of Buckfast.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard that Terry Comiskey, 19, struck his friend with a bottle, acted in a threatening manner while intoxicated at a house-warming party, and assaulted two police officers at Dunfermline Police Station.

Comiskey, of Westwood Crescent, Ballingry, admitted that on February 28 at Laurence Park, Kinglassie, he did assault the complainer and struck him on the head with a bottle to his injury.

He also admitted that on February 20 at Russell Street, Lochgelly, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm, in that he did repeatedly shout and swear.

Comiskey further plead guilty that on June 4 at Dunfermline Police Station he did assault two police officers in the execution of their duty.

Depute fiscal, Kiran Uppal, told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that after socialising and drinking at a house in Lochgelly, Comiskey became angry after the complainer said he was going to leave.

He left the living room and walked into the hallway where he was followed by Comiskey before an argument broke out.

The argument culminated in the accused striking the victim over the head with a bottle of Buckfast.

The impact forced him to the ground and his head started to bleed.

Comiskey tried to stop the bleeding and held a rest to the complainer's head.

The man suffered a 2cm laceration that is is likely to leave a scar.

Ms Uppal also told the court that at a house-warming party in Lochgelly the accused began to shout and swear at the complainer whilst heavily intoxicated.

Defence solicitor, James Moncrieff, told the Court that his client was "desperate not to be returned to custody".

He stated: "He has learned his lesson and I would ask the Court to put that to the test."

Sheriff Craig McSherry sentenced Comiskey to 30 months detention.
