COWDENBEATH town centre traders are set to receive a business boost from the launch of free Wi-Fi for shoppers and visitors which was switched on at the weekend.

Funded through Cowdenbeath Community Council’s Scottish Government’s Town Centre Communities Capital Fund bid, it is hoped that it will help attract visitors of all ages to the town and support the local community.

Cowdenbeath Community Council applied for the funding and were delighted that their application has been successful.

The funding has also paid for the tree lighting around the Leisure Centre car park off Stenhouse Street, and the purchase of gazeabo’s which were put to great use over the weekend as part of the Christmas lights switch on.

The Wi-Fi has been installed by 802Event Wi-Fi

Andrew Walker, of Fife Council’s Town Centre Development Unit said: “The Cowdenbeath town centre Wi-Fi will offer a great opportunity to all our local retailers business owners and community groups to promote their activity locally.
