A COWDENBEATH man has been fined £200 after smashing the window of his favourite pub.

Gary Crawford, a regular at the Glen Tavern, was outside having an argument with a man and after being told to calm down he broke the pub window with a brick.

Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that a customer at the tavern saw CCTV of Crawford having an argument with a man outside.

When the man went to calm down Crawford he told him to f*** off and challenged him to a fight.

The accused was then seen putting his hood up while he found a brick to smash the window.

The bar owner held Crawford until the police arrived.

Crawford, of Sunnyside Court, previously plead guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, challenging a person to fight and striking a window with a brick causing it to break.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said his client was a regular at the public house and had been barred.

"He didn't normally cause violence but he was very drunk.

"The customer he challenged to a fight was known to him and he reacted to his words."

Sheriff Charles Macnair told Crawford: "This was an incident where you challenged people to a fight and when someone tried to calm you down you threw a brick causing significant damage.

"You also have two assault convictions in the last two years.

"I am just prepared to deal with this by way of a non-custodial sentence."

Crawford received 125 hours of community service, £200 compensation fine and a supervision requirement of 12 months.
