A NEW fiery folk band will be taking to the stage at Lochgelly Centre for their first-ever concert next month.

SKELPT, a trio made up of Euan Johnston, Andrew Gordon and Iain Anderson, have been individually playing for over 30 years each, performing at festivals and concerts all over Scotland and throughout Europe.

They have now joined forces and will be bringing their musical talents to central Fife on Friday, April 26.

Andrew Gordon, who also organises The Wee Fife Folk Festival, said: "We have known each other for a good few years and have already played in various bands together.

"We knew it would work well, as we all perform with a huge amount of energy, and have a real passion for trad music".

SKELPT will bring a wide range of Trad songs with both Andrew, and Euan taking turns on the lead vocals, guitar and bodhran, while world-class fiddler Iain adds to the songs, and then takes the lead in some frantic jigs and reels.

The trio guarantee a "foot-stomping set" and will also launch their first CD in April, they said: "We recorded it live in B&B studios, so what you get on the CD is what you would hear on stage."

As all of the band members have young families, they have agreed that kids can get a ticket for £1 when bought with a full-price adult ticket, so it can really be a great family night out, in one of ONFIFE's fantastic venues.

They continued: "It's really important to us that our music is accessible, and we really want families to be able to afford a fun live music experience for the kids."

Tickets are priced at £12, £8 concession and £1 for children with a paying adult.

Doors open at 7:00pm with the concert starting at 7:30pm.  Tickets are available from the OnFife website, or from the Lochgelly Centre box office.
