INTERESTING to hear about the various questions asked about the Lochgelly Public Parks Improvement Group.

The thing is that a lot of money has been channelled into the upgrading of the park, something that has been really needed for a number of years.

The pavilion and former tennis courts areas have changed little in 30 plus years, but there are now plans to see both areas improved, although there does not seem to be anything yet planned for the old pavilion.

The park looks like it is going to house the new £1.6m football hub facility which will be a real plus for Lochgelly and there are also proposals for the tennis courts which will undoubtedly make a big difference.

Inevitably some of the works have not had 100 per cent approval from the public but then that is bound to happen.

When major changes take place, like the decision to grass the ash park, it is going to upset people who use it regularly for their own requirements.

But once the new grass settles and it is turns the public park into a green oasis perhaps the opponents might be won over.

Overall the park will have seen almost £2m spent on it once the football hub is created. That has to be welcomed.

So while it might have some items in it which will be questioned the park improvements have made a real difference to the town.

Get the project moving

THE decision taken to put the new visitor centre on hold seems to be the right one.

It looks like the Coast and Countryside Trust has come up short with their public consultation and Benarty Community Forum were right to call the public meeting last week.

Listening to the councillors it would seem that the Trust was right out of order with the way they handled the consultation process.

But lets hope that things make progress now for this is too big a project to have delayed for too long.

Get consulting and get the project under construction.

MEEDIES.
