THE recent dumping issue at The Avenue, in Lochgelly, has again underlined the problems that exist with people taking the law into their own hands.

The mess at the entrance to the field which was left one evening a few weeks ago is a mixture of building debris.

Lochgelly Community Council have been concerned with the number of incidents of illegal dumping in the town recently and at a time when the old mining burgh has been in contention for a prize for the most improved town that certainly is not good.

The Avenue is the main road into the town off the A92 and leads to the public park which has been under renovation so it is not good when dumping takes place at that sort of place.

The message from the community council is that if you see people dumping material illegally report it to the appropriate authorities.

If enough people do that then the dumpers can be caught and action taken against it.

The fine for for illegal dumping is considerable so if you see someone throwing things away note their vehicle registration and report it. That bwill help stop the practice.
