EUROPEAN boxing champion Niamh Mitchell is set to be amongst the star names that will be on the bill for a thrilling night of action in Cardenden on Friday.

The talented teenager will step into the ring on a show hosted by her club, Bowhill Miners, that is set to welcome boxers from both Scotland and further afield.

The event, which will be held in Bowhill Community Centre, will take place a year on from when the club hosted an historic first all-female show in Scotland.

Niamh, who in October 2022 made history by becoming the first female to win gold for Scotland at a major competition when she won the 52kg light bantamweight title at the EUBC (European Boxing Confederation) European Junior Championship, headlined that event and won a 57kg bout with Canada's Kelsee McPhee.

Central Fife Times:

Looking ahead to Friday's show, James White, one of Bowhill's coaches, commented: "It'll be a good show.

"We've got a girl coming from England for Niamh and there's quite a few English lads coming up as well. There's European champions, British, Scottish, English champions that will be on the bill.

"The way it's shaping up, it looks like it's going to be a cracking night of boxing."
